How to choose

Four things to settle before you buy a UV flatbed

Material, format, throughput and relief requirements decide whether the machine really fits your orders.

Step 1: Material and thickness

Acrylic, glass, wood, metal, leather and other rigid flat parts are the flatbed's home ground. Check max thickness first: the FLY-6090U adjusts 0-180 mm; thicker or irregular parts need custom jigs.

Step 2: Format and nesting

60x90 cm is the sweet spot for sampling and small batches. For volume orders, use a jig to nest multiple parts per pass — unit cost drops sharply.

Step 3: Print head and throughput

XP600 for entry level, TX800 for value, I1600 for speed plus precision, I3200 for high-volume production. White ink and varnish occupy channels, and relief mode slows output.

Step 4: Pre-treatment and curing

UV ink cures instantly, but glass and metal benefit from cleaning and a primer. Always run a physical sample to confirm colour, adhesion and abrasion resistance before mass production.

UV Flatbed Buying Questions

Read these before you ask for a quote — it speeds everything up.

What is the difference between a UV flatbed and UV DTF (crystal label) printing?+

A UV flatbed prints directly onto the material surface and the part is ready to use — best for flat rigid parts such as acrylic, wood, glass and metal plates. UV DTF prints onto a film that is then transferred, which suits curved, irregular and flexible surfaces. Choose flatbed for rigid flats; choose UV DTF for irregular surfaces.

How thick a part can the 6090 handle?+

The table adjusts 0-180 mm, covering standard boards and finished parts. Parts beyond 180 mm need a custom jig or a transfer process.

Will the print peel off? Do I need pre-treatment?+

Adhesion after UV curing depends on the material's surface energy. For glass and metal we recommend cleaning plus a primer. Before mass production, confirm colour, adhesion and abrasion resistance with a physical sample.

How is the relief (3D) effect produced?+

White ink is stacked repeatedly in the same area to build height, then colour and varnish are layered on top. Relief occupies the white channel and reduces speed, so it suits higher-value gifts and plates.

What does a machine cost?+

Price varies with print head configuration (XP600 / TX800 / I1600 / I3200) and whether a white-ink and varnish set is included. Send us your material, artwork size and daily output and we will return a configuration and quote within 48 hours.
